Svartvik Industrial Heritage

The mansion and the kitchen garden at Svartvik. Photographer: Sven Nordström.

Svartvik guides you to 170 years of industrial heritage. From wharf to shipyard, steam-powered sawmill and pulp mill. Today, Svartvik is a visitor´s centre, with much more than industrial history on the menu.

At Svartvik you can visit our exhibition, stroll among buildings from the industrial era and in the garden milieu, run around in the playground, shop in the antiques shop, eat in the mansion restaurant or in the cosy summertime café.

The industrial heritage site is beautifully situated by the mouth of the River Ljungan. A great place for picnics or strolling. We have one of Sweden´s oldest water towers and a skittle alley, where you can try your skills.

In the summer season there are several events, with music, theatre and fairs. Guided tours are held daily.

Svartvik is 10 kilometres south of Sundsvall, by the European highway 4, clearly visible from the highway.
